A happy life is what most people wish for. But, sadly, many do not get this wish due to various lifestyle habits and too many days spent worrying about the future and about circumstances that are out of their control. Having a happy life is not about having lots of money; it includes learning how to be happier with yourself. What this looks like varies from person to person; it might be spending more time with family and friends and being grateful for what you do have. Below are 11 tips for being more content with yourself.
1. Be Charitable
‘Sharing is caring’ is a ubiquitous statement, and for good reasons. For many people, assisting others can deliver a great sense of well-being because of the joy and happiness they can bring others. Why not look around and ask yourself if there is someone in your circle or community who could use your help? Soon you will find something that fills you and makes you happier with yourself.
2. Drink Enough Water
For a happy and healthy life, it is important to give your body the right minerals. By drinking at least 1.5 liters of liquid daily, preferably water or mineral water, your body can feel more rejuvenated and your skin will likely start to glow. This, in turn, will make you feel great about yourself. Other choices include fruit or herbal teas (unsweetened), as well as fruit and vegetable juices.
3. Reduce Your Alcohol Intake
Alcohol makes many people happy, but the downside is that once the substance leaves your system, you may not feel very good. Additionally, excessive consumption of alcohol is the cause of many illnesses and significantly reduces life expectancy. Alcohol can cause cardiovascular disease, and too much can lead to a fatty liver and eventually cirrhosis. For this reason, it is important not to consume more than the maximum quantities of alcoholic beverages recommended, and to avoid binge drinking completely.
4. Eat Healthy
Food makes you happy! Hardly anything affects your happiness more than the food you eat, and this is because certain foods contain serotonin boosting nutrients. These include blueberries, eggs, beans, and pumpkin seeds.
However, generally speaking, a healthy diet can also make you feel less sluggish and more energetic and vibrant. The more colorful your food, the better for your health! The vibrant color in many fruits and vegetables usually contain various minerals and vitamins. For example, lycopene, the red dye in tomatoes, is considered to be valuable protection for the heart and blood vessels.
Lean meat, legumes, and low-fat dairy products are also essential for a balanced diet, as well as consuming good fats, such as high-quality olive oil, and linseed oil which contains Omega-3 fatty acids. They are also essential for the body and can reduce the risk of heart attack, protect against cancer and depression, and promote brain function. However, try to avoid trans-fatty acids (the substances made from fried and roasted foods), as these increase the bad LDL in the blood and lower the good HDL cholesterol.
5. Exercise Often
Regular exercise has also been proven to increase your serotonin levels, meaning those who spend their entire life moving and doing moderate physical activity have a better chance of a happier life. For office workers who spend a lot of time sitting down, there are many small, daily tricks to move more. For example, get the minimum amount of movement with simple exercises like climbing stairs. Of course, there are other options too, including jogging, tennis, swimming, golf, walking or doing yoga. The possibilities are endless and they can help you to be happier with yourself.

6. Engage In Fun Activities
It’s vital to take part in as many fun activities as you can, to truly make yourself more energetic and content. For example, taking the time to read your favorite book will instantly calm your mind, promoting happiness. If you like to vape, you can find vape juice cheap in different flavors online and experiment to find the one you like the best.
7. Be Happier with Yourself: Rest Often
Regular vacations and breaks can help rejuvenate the mind and body for a happier outlook on life. Some people prefer to take time out to meditate. Others sit in their favorite chair and listen to music, and some just do not do anything. Because a break is just that; it’s a chance to relax and let go of everything. Calm the mind and body, and simply enjoy life. This is all part of how to be happier with yourself. Through the deliberate change of activities and rest, you can rejuvenate your mind and body.
8. Spend Time with Family
Family and friends are key to happiness and a longer life! Socializing regularly with family and friends can improve the quality of life, and people with many social ties tend to have a significantly higher life expectancy. In Italy, family is crucial, and each family tends to live together in harmony. Italian grandmas are living very long in comparison to other nations, all thanks to the love and affection of the family. There is always someone to help them when they are in need. Partners, children, and other family members are truly a blessing.
9. Practice Gratitude
What would your life be without gratitude? No doubt many of us love to complain about the weather and the gloomy news, criticize the neighbors, or talk ill of the boss. However, there are countless reasons to be grateful, from dawn when we see the sunrise to the evening when we can admire the moon overhead. By being grateful for everything you have, it will make life can be more beautiful, more valuable, and ultimately you can grow to be happier with yourself.
10. Staying Mentally Active
Your brain performance does not have to suffer drastically as you get older. Make efforts to continually learn. Travel, speak another language, take yoga classes, and do mental exercises; these are just some of the practical ways to achieve a more fulfilling, happier life.
11. Dance Like Nobody’s Watching
Dancing is great for the soul. Even our ancestors tried to banish evil spirits with rhythmic sounds and dances! Today, doctors use music and dance therapies to relieve pain or improve post-stroke health. Various studies on Parkinson’s patients show that the coordination of the movements can improve when some music or rhythm is played.
Life is for living, and only when you make efforts to be happier with yourself can you truly make the most of it. Use the above tips to improve your life today, and become a more joyful you now.
