If you want to spark your little one’s imagination or find a fun way to spend time with them, Full Moon Fairy provides opportunities for either (or both)! The enchanting book series and trinket game is educational too, as founder and creator Karly Bonfante explains in our interview. The 14 lunar kits that deliver to your home over 14 months help your 2-9 year old experience some magic in their early developmental years and will surely peak their curiosity. They might want one of the cute stuffies based on the book characters too!

Disclosure: May this sponsored interview with Full Moon Fairy creator Karly encourage you to create new family traditions and bring more magic and fun into the lives of your young kids and grandkids.

Interview with Karly, Founder of Full Moon Fairy

I think what I like best about Full Moon Fairy is the special parent-child time together that it offers each month when the package arrives. It could also be grandparent-child time, aunt-child time, etc. The memories that come from this family experience can be incredible. So, how did Karly come up with such a unique idea? That’s the first question I asked her.

Welcome, Karly! I’m curious, what inspired the idea for Full Moon Fairy?

I am the mother of two young children currently in their “magic years.” I love these years with them, and I was looking for ways to not only slow down this time with them, but also fun ways to pass along foundational values and lessons.

We were visiting a family friend one weekend and she introduced me to this “full moon fairy” practice she did with her kids. I fell in love with the idea and so did my kids. The following month, around the full moon, my kids asked me when the full moon fairy would be coming back. Seeing my kids love it and have fun with it and want more of it, the idea was born.

As the enchanting story naturally unfolded and the character of Faye the Full Moon Fairy came to life, I noticed the pure joy and enthusiasm my children had for it, and moreover, the therapeutic effect the newfound ritual had on me.

Before long, I was daydreaming of this mystical world’s wholesome, educational potential and fantasizing about sharing its magic with friends and other young families. And so, eternally inspired by my son and daughter, I embarked on this adventure: bringing the Full Moon Fairy to doorsteps around the world and connecting earthlings big and small under the generous, nurturing moon.

This is more than a book series! What else does it include with monthly packages?

Full Moon Fairy is a mystical and joyous celebration of Mother Nature and its bountiful teachings. The experience is thoughtfully curated to sprinkle more magic into the formative “magic years.”

Each month, families are welcomed to the whimsical world of Faye the Full Moon Fairy and her cast of adorable critter friends, whose adventures are ushered by the lunar cycle and grounded by nature and time-honored values.

Our customizable monthly packages are designed to be experienced upon each month’s full moon. Monthly deliveries include one of the 14 books (to be experienced as a series following the current Lunar Calendar) along with a small, surprise interactive element or craft related to each specific book’s particular narrative that children can discover the next morning.

What age group is Full Moon Fairy geared towards?

I call it the magic years, the amazing years where kids still believe in fictional characters and have that sweet wonder in their eyes. The magic years I find can last from about 2 to maybe 8 or 9, if we get lucky :)

What do you hope kids take away from the experience?

In this busy world, I find it difficult to have meaningful conversations with my children about values, lessons, and how I’d love them to show up in the world as caring global citizens. There are lessons woven into these stories about kindness towards each other, ourselves, and our beautiful Mother Earth that I hope will last a lifetime.

I hope this not only gives parents something educational and magical to do with their children, but it’s also fun for their kids. Enriching and inspiring, the Full Moon Fairy ritual will ignite the imagination, instill lasting traditions and create precious memories.

What can families expect from the Full Moon Fairy subscription?

When subscribing, starting at $28.95 a month, families will receive the 14 book series, the accompanying trinkets (selected by age group) which will be included in each monthly full moon kit.

Subscriptions begin with the first book in the collection Faye & Friends. On the following full moon, you’ll pick up the series wherever we are in the lunar year. For example, if you receive Faye & Friends in August, you’ll then receive “Under the Harvest Moon” in September, and so on.

How are you helping to make learning fun?

Every month, as children follow along with Faye and her adorable critter friends, not only will they learn about a different animal every month, but they also learn about what is unique about each month and season through the lens of the lunar cycle.

Additionally, by bringing the book to life with stuffies of Faye and her friends, your children are invited to snuggle or play with and reenact some of their adventures. They’ll also learn from the interactive trinkets (examples including mindfulness cards, nature scavenger hunt boards, and moon and star garland) that the Full Moon Fairy leaves for them!

What has the feedback been from parents and kids?

I’ve received nothing but positive feedback so far! One customer said she is truly amazed at the effect these kits have had on her kids, they look forward to next full moon and even want to go to bed early on the full moon to ensure the Full Moon Fairy comes!

Another customer has said she loves how the narrative of the stories invites a curiosity about the natural world, while making it easy to conjure moments of wonder without the pressure that so often comes with creating “magic” at home. One other customer said she is obsessed with how easy this subscription has made it for her to have a fun and meaningful moment with her kids every month!

Who is Faye the Full Moon Fairy?

Barefoot and benevolent, Faye is the Fairy of Moonlight, a playful companion and guide through this marvelous adventure. Every month, Faye invites you along as she and her adorable critter friends bask in the powerful light of the full moon and interact with the flora and fauna of our shared Earth.

Each book teaches the little readers about respect and harmony along Faye’s adventures. Ever the fun-loving sprite, Faye always leaves us a sweet little surprise to wake up to, allowing the grand lore to continue even after she’s flown away.

Thank you for being here, Karly!

Full Moon Fairy makes the perfect gifts that create lasting memories. I’m finding that grandparents and aunts and uncles are enjoying gifting something so unique that enriches the whole family. It’s a really sweet way to stay connected with a gift that offers something new and magical every month!
