While the traditional party has been a distant memory this year, virtual get-togethers are a great way to stay social with friends and family. While it may not have exactly the same vibe to it as in-person events, there are ways to mix it up a little to ensure everyone gets into the party spirit. Check out some top virtual celebration ideas below:
Wine tasting
If you and your friends love a glass of vino, then a wine tasting experience from the comfort of the sofa is a great option. There are several companies now providing wine-tasting experiences in a box, and they can make for tasty virtual celebrations.
That means everything delivers to your door, instead of heading to the winery. Once each of you receives the package at your homes, get everyone together over a video call to get tasting together.
Play charades
Charades is a top game to play with family and friends. You don’t even have to be in the same room to do it!
Play the game exactly as you would if you were all together. Just make sure you’re in front of the camera when you do so. It’s just as much fun trying to work out what the answer is with everyone involved.
Looking for birthday ideas in the heart of London? Here you go!
Milestone celebrations get virtual
If you’re celebrating a significant milestone, then organize something special virtually for the occasion. Whether it’s a baby shower, anniversary, or birthday, give it a unique touch to make it stand out.
For example, Cloverlawn Butterflies has a wide range of butterfly release packages for various occasions, such as weddings, funerals, and memorials. These packages make the time memorable and special. Get everybody together to watch you release the butterflies, whether in person or through a video stream.
Play a virtual board game
If you and your friends love a good board game, then you’re in luck. You don’t have to go without classics like Monopoly or Scrabble, thanks to Pogo and similar sites.
That gives you the option to play a variety of virtual multiplayer board games. Enjoy all the fun and excitement of traditional games from wherever you are.
More virtual celebration ideas: Live sports games
Many people miss getting together with friends to watch live sports games. While it’s been a bit different in recent months, that doesn’t mean you can’t get together virtually to watch your favorites.
Simply set up a video call for the games you want to see, and prepare the snacks and drinks prepared like usual. You can all watch together and still get into the vibe of a live game with all the banter and camaraderie thrown in.
Get your dance on
If you’re missing out on the traditional party vibes with your friends and family, consider throwing a virtual dance party. Get dressed up and blast some music (just be considerate of the neighbors), and get your dance on.
It’s a great way to let your hair down, have a drink, and ultimately have fun for a few hours. If you’ve got kids, they’ll love joining in too.
While you might miss in-person social gatherings, virtual celebrations provide a way to still have fun with loved ones while staying safe. Are you doing virtual events this holiday season to help prevent social isolation and get into the Christmas spirit?

Thank you, dear Nisha. We are in lockdown so it will be a quiet one. I wish you a lovely holiday too!
Love these ideas. We all have to get creative since it doesn’t look like things will be normal anytime soon. My daughters were doing a jigsaw puzzle online one night. I thought that was a pretty neat idea.
Getting creative can bring us joy, and we deserve joy after a tough year! Thanks Michelle xx Have a nice Christmas Day
Thanks. Same to you Christy!
