Rustic Jewelry: The Next Hot Jewelry Trend

Share

Please join me in welcoming personal stylist Lynn Lewis to the blog! I love her take on rustic jewelry as the next big thing in this guest post. I am always looking for ways to put a new spin on the clothes in the closet and that’s exactly what jewelry like the pieces below can do. Let’s give Lynn the blog floor:

Add great style to your wardrobe with this jewelry

2018 is all about really cool rustic jewelry! Handcrafted necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings are the big trend for the year and the options are gorgeous. Natural materials are taking center stage and the results are diverse and simply beautiful. Turquoise, wood, glass beads, there are so many options you can choose from to give your style a cool, Bohemian update!

Look For Fair Trade

Unique designs can be found anywhere, but the most stunning ones are handmade. Be on the lookout for fair trade crafts from around the world and you’ll find pieces like bead earrings and bamboo and Sese wood necklaces from Ghana. Fair trade items are particularly wonderful buys because you not only get a one-of-a-kind piece of art, but you support local artisans. And there’s really nothing cooler than supporting some independent artists while looking gorgeous!

Introduce Some Natural Materials Into Your Style

Look beyond the usual diamonds and pearls and bring in some leather, wood, copper, and glass beads for a funky look. Take your basic little black dress up a notch and pair it with a leather cuff or Czech glass earrings.

Wood heart necklaces

Natural materials like wood are a great alternative to gemstones when it comes to fashion accessories. Pixabay image.

Even your Spring and Summer casual looks can get dressed up with some rustic style: a beaded anklet paired with strappy sandals and a flowy skirt or linen shorts makes for a great warm-weather outfit.

Check Out Unconventional Materials

Sure, the standard gemstones are nice and so is gold, but what else is out there? How about clay, driftwood, and recycled plastic? Look for jewelry that’s not only unique but ecologically responsible. Your statement earrings can make a bigger statement than you thought! Don’t be afraid to go bold with them, look for pieces that will start a conversation.

Think Music Festival Style

When you think of cool, chances are good you’re thinking of music festival style. Long, dangly earrings, feathers, beads, layered necklaces, and not a diamond in sight. Nothing goes better with flowing fabrics and tiny tops than rustic jewelry. Get in touch with nature and let your style reflect it.

Vintage Is Always In Style

Get your inspiration from vintage magazines: check out issues of 60s and 70s magazines to see how those gorgeous ladies styled their jewelry. The classics never go out of style and it’s easy to update them for a new look.

60's and 70's fashions are still on-trend

Vintage is always appropriate! This pearl necklace is a great example. Photo via Pixabay.

Take the classic off-the-shoulder peasant blouse and team it with one of today’s layered necklaces or a crocheted halter top with stacked bracelets in leather and beadwork. It’s an updated look with an eye to the past that will always look great.

Get Creative And Have Fun!

Remember to have fun with fashion and never take it too seriously. Search out some local artisans, find some cool Etsy shops, or check out some website for really awesome contemporary rustic jewelry and find some pieces that will update your wardrobe with style!

I’m with Lynn! Vintage is always in style. If one is creative, rework a vintage necklace into a pair of vintage earrings and necklace!
