Happy Easter! While this holiday has its roots in Christian traditions, talking religion isn’t why I’m blogging today. Instead, consider this post a gentle reminder to continue helping others, whether it’s a special day of the year, a holiday weekend, or any other day. Below are three recent examples of giving involving women and Easter baskets that touched my heart, and they may do the same for you. Of course, by all means, eat some chocolate bunnies along the way.
Council of Catholic Women Build Easter Baskets and Community
The Council of Catholic Women of the Archdiocese of Detroit (CCW/AD) recently showed a beautiful show of support to families in need by putting together Easter baskets to deliver to Catholic Charities’ foster care families in Michigan. The CCW/AD has been advocating for women within the diocese since 1939, championing various causes, and they’re building a strong sense of community with the Easter baskets.
With President Sharon DiGiovanni at the helm, the Council’s dedication to the community is clear through their long-lasting partnership with Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan. They’ve collaborated on mental health awareness initiatives and more. Through their compassionate efforts, the CCW/AD exemplifies how the spirit of giving and unity can improve the lives of so many.
Providing Supplies to Domestic Violence Survivors at Easter
In a heartwarming display of support, Hawaii’s female legislators and nonprofit leaders recently came together to ensure that women and families affected by domestic violence have the essentials they need during Easter. Through the Women’s Legislative Caucus’ Annual Easter Basket Drive, Easter baskets filled with toiletries and household essentials were distributed to local nonprofits like the Domestic Violence Action Center and The Salvation Army of Hawaii.
This basket drive is in its 25th year, and it shows compassion and unity, providing vital support to those in need. With over 150 Easter baskets collected and distributed last year alone, this generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of domestic violence survivors who are trying to heal, start over, and care for their kids.
Easter Baskets for Kids in Need: Over 1,000 Every Year from Non-Profit
In 1999, Dawn Godfrey’s daughter’s lack of interest in her Easter basket sparked a heartwarming idea that has blossomed into an annual tradition of spreading joy to children in need. Dawn’s initiative, Baskets of L.I.F.E. (Little Inspirations For Easter), began with 120 baskets filled with toys and treats for children in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has since grown to over 1,000 baskets delivered each year.
From stuffed animals to sports gear and beauty items, each basket is carefully curated to bring happiness to the kid or teen who receives it. Dawn and her non-profit have brought smiles and hope to countless children, at Easter and beyond.
