Bootleg Bath review: Sustainable bath and hair products (+ Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals!)

Bootleg Bath review

In a world where there are so many concerns, I try my best to do my part to make a difference, and choosing companies that are good for the planet is one way to do so. That’s how I came to learn about Bootleg Bath’s sustainable bar soaps, shampoo bars, and conditioner bars. It was a bonus to learn that the Founder and CEO is a woman — her name is Lauren Federgreen — We all know how much I love supporting women! I reached out and kindly received a package of samples to try. Here’s my Bootleg Bath review, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals at the end!

Disclosure: I received samples from Bootleg Bath in return for an honest review. As an Amazon Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases through links in this post.

First impressions

I received these three full-size samples from Bootleg Bath:

When I opened the box, an amazing scent immediately emerged! The word luxurious came to my mind. I love receiving bath stuff as gifts, and I think this brand would be a great one to receive at Christmas, birthday or another special occasion. Or, treat yourself; you’re so worth it. The cocktail-inspired themes make them fun too.

The grapefruit scent in the cheerful-looking soap is wonderful. It smells like when you cut into a grapefruit, so that bergamot in it is definitely working well. The scents of the other two are equally pleasing. Almost refreshing in scent, if that makes sense.

I was also pleased with the size of the items. While they are not necessarily long in width, they are quite thick. I know from when I’ve made soap in the past that the thicker ones last longer. Plus, it’s nice to have a more substantial product to hold in the shower or bath.

The packaging is attractive. When I found out more about the green packaging, I was even more pleased. More on that later in the review.

Bootleg Bath review: Trying out the items

The Bootleg Bath bar soap is just as I imagined – A citrus-packed smell with a great lather. The bathroom smells heavenly after using it in the shower. If you’re looking for an uplifting scent, this bar is one to consider.

While I’ve only just started using the Bootleg Bath shampoo and conditioner bars, I look forward to the potential effects. The shampoo bar is the strengthening variety (there are different kinds). It is made for all types of hair. As I have fine hair, it’s easily damaged. While I’ve stopped blowdrying to try to prevent weakening my strands, I’m glad to have the additional help of this strengthening shampoo bar.

The solid conditioner bar is the growth formula variety. It’s designed for all hair types, to promote hair growth and benefit scalp health. With an itchy scalp regularly and as someone trying to grow her hair longer, I’m looking forward to it.

As I said earlier, I’m also happy with the size of all three. They are thick, which means they will last a long time. I envision the haircare bars outlasting traditional bottles, actually. With the bars, I rubbed them on my hair and worked up a lather easily, barely seeing a reduction in the bar size after the first use.

It will take me time to get used to the solid bars for shampoo and conditioner. I’m in my 40s and have used bottled products in the shower all my life! So rubbing a bar onto my hair to work up the lather is going to take time. But I love the vibrant scents and the way that this is making my haircare routine more environmentally friendly. If sustainable living is important to you too, you get what I mean.

The organic, eco-friendly appeal

There’s a lot to like about how Bootleg Bath reduces its environmental footprint and maintains high standards. The items are all handcrafted with quality organic, vegan, and natural ingredients in the United States.

All products are sulphate-free, phthalate-free, palm oil-free, and cruelty-free. The ingredients are ethically sourced, and the company uses both carbon-neutral shipping and packaging. Yes, even the packaging is good for the planet.

I really like that I’m not contributing to environmental waste with plastic bottles for washing my hair. I am increasing my eco-friendly contributions without sacrificing anything quality-wise. If anything, it’s a step above my usual items with the amazing scents and no residue left from the high-value soap.

The focus on being good to the environment means a lot to me. And being able to get this at an affordable price point easily on Amazon or their own shop is great.
