Spring cleaning season is on the way: Consider these 3 tips

Spring cleaning season tips

We’re in the midst of winter right now (unless you live in the southern hemisphere, such as in Australia), and Spring is on its way. As such, many people plan for the big home spring clean, where they make sure their home is spic and span from head to toe, turning every piece of property, throwing out old possessions, and cleaning in those hard-to-reach places. Below are three tips to help with the spring cleaning season.

Cleaning can be fun if you have music playing or a good audiobook to listen to. But of course, it’s a lot of work.

If you can enlist someone in your household to help you then that should work out well. But if not, it’s good to consider a few tips you can use for cleaning comfortably, carefully, and without feeling too tired at the end of it all.

Without further ado, consider the following suggestions:

1. Microfiber towels & clothes will help

It’s important to use the appropriate tools if you hope to clean efficiently and comfortably. Microfiber cloths are an excellent tool for dusting, whether they’re towels or old clothes you no longer wear.

These cloths’ microscopic threads easily pick up and hold onto dust and filth. They won’t harm delicate things and are soft on surfaces. That way, you won’t be moving the dust around while polishing, and you can clean multiple surfaces like glass, wood, and enamel.

Microfiber clothes are also easier on your skin. Some are washable so you don’t have to spend money on new packs for the whole house.

2. Vinegar & baking soda are your friends

Baking soda and vinegar are fantastic choices if you’re looking for a natural substitute for harsh chemical cleaners. Baking soda and water can be used to make a paste for more difficult stains, or vinegar and water can combine to make a natural all-purpose cleaner.

These organic substitutes are risk-free and won’t leave behind any harmful chemical residues. Non-toxic cleaners can be a worthwhile means of ensuring you don’t gain skin irritation from cleaning a whole property in one or two weeks.

3. Don’t forget the gutters!

It can be a hassle to clean your gutters, but it’s a necessary task. When you’re spring cleaning, be sure to allot some time to complete this activity because the last thing you want is for water to pool, causing damage to your walls, windows and doors, and exterior environment on top of that.

If you’re not confident using a ladder, think about hiring a specialist to complete the task for you. It’s a small investment that will pay off over time by protecting your house and ensuring it looks great. Eavestrough cleaning services have a fantastic and reliable pedigree of helping homeowners ensure their guttering system and surrounding areas are well attended to.

Takeaway – And add your spring cleaning season tips

With this advice, hopefully, you can spring clean with confidence and care. Having a wonderfully put-together home is well worth the effort.

  1. Vinegar is just amazing!
I have a dilute solution in a spray bottle and I use it to wipe down my counters at night. It makes them nice n clean and keeps away the ants!

    1. Yes, I did the same thing last night in our kitchen ~ I don’t mind the scent either (as opposed to some commercial cleaners). Go Kimberly go!

    1. Hi Peggy, now that the sunny days are increasing, I’m noticing our windows need cleaning, aiiii! Happy spring, my friend

  2. Spring cleaning is never ending over here. Sigh!
Hey, did you know Allens makes a super strong vinegar just for cleaning? It may NOT be used in/with foods. It’s fantastic!

    1. OHHHH no I didn’t know about Allens vinegar for cleaning, so thanks for letting me know! Do you get it at a grocery store? Or specialty places?

    2. I get it at the grocery store. You should be able to get it at any large grocery chain – Longos, Loblaws, Safeway, etc.

    3. If you can believe it, we don’t have any of those stores around where I live. But we have Walmart, which is a big chain so likely they’ll have it. Maybe even the dollar store. Thanks Resa!

    1. Our inn was a “green hotel” and we used mostly natural products such as vinegar and baking soda. Our health inspections, including countertop swabs, was usually between 98 and 100% and not a drop of bleach to be found.
