Book review of Refracted Reflections: Twisted Tales of Duality & Deception

Refracted Reflections book cover

I won this book in a Facebook contest. I was looking forward to it ~ And it did not disappoint! Here is my book review of Refracted Reflections: Twisted Tales of Duality & Deception, compiled and edited by Kaye Lynne Booth.

Refracted Reflections: Short stories with a theme

This book features nine short stories from eight different writers. Each story includes a mirror in it, hence the title of the book including the word “reflections.”

Each author has a bio included in the book, so I could find out more about them. Before reading this collection, I hadn’t really thought about the mirror symbolism. But after finishing it, I certainly did! While I knew the stories were fiction, some of them gave me the chills!

Read with the light on

I don’t often read scary stories. So it doesn’t take a lot to scare me. The same holds true in movies and TV shows.

I wanted to read this one, though, as I’m a fan of Roberta Eaton Cheadle. I have followed her blog Robbies Inspiration for a long time and enjoyed her book Through the Nethergate. Her short story The Nutracker in Refracted Reflections drew me in and kept me hanging on!

But I might be nervous around mirrors for a while…

The short story collection is edited by Kaye Lynne Booth, who contributed two different stories. They were both great. There is spookiness and intriguing characters.

What else I like about Refracted Reflections

I’m reminded how much I like short stories! It’s nice to be able to read one story and put the book down before moving onto the next one.

Also, it’s cool that there are different authors in this collection. I read many different writing styles in one book and was introduced to authors who I might not have otherwise ever known about.

I give this book 5 stars.
