Stress is an unavoidable part of life, and it can have a significant impact on our mental and physical health. Fortunately, there are many ways to relieve stress at home.
9 ways to combat stress at home
From meditation to connecting with others, there are many ways to de-stress, all without leaving the house. Here are some suggestions:
1. Practice meditation
Mindfulness meditation is an effective way to combat stress by allowing you to take control of your thoughts and emotions. By taking time out to focus on the present moment, you can reduce stress and anxiety levels, improve sleep quality, increase focus and concentration, decrease pain sensitivity, and more.
To practice mindfulness meditation at home, find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed for 10-20 minutes. Then, focus on your breath or another object like a candle flame and observe your thoughts without judgment.
2. Exercise for combating stress
Regular exercise can go a long way in helping to reduce stress levels. Whether you prefer to hit the gym or do yoga in your living room, physical activity is an important part of managing stress and promoting overall health.
Exercise can also boost mood by releasing endorphins that increase feelings of happiness and well-being. Sometimes I walk up and down the stairs at home for a certain number of times – It’s part of staying active.
3. Take time for yourself
Making time for yourself is essential for reducing stress levels. Try setting aside 30 minutes each day to relax and indulge in something that brings you joy, such as reading a book, taking a bubble bath, or watching your favorite show.
Some people find CBD helpful. Taking Delta 8 Gummies and breaks throughout the day may help in relieving stress. Always check with your doctor before taking CBD for the first time to make sure it’s right for you.
4. Get organized to relieve stress
Clutter and disorganization can create anxiety and increase stress levels. Taking the time to declutter your living space and organize it in a way that works for you is an important step toward reducing stress.
This action will help keep your mind and the environment free from distractions. That allows you to focus on what’s important.
5. Connect with others
Stress can quickly become overwhelming when we feel isolated or disconnected from those around us. Making time to connect with family and friends is essential for relieving stress as well as providing emotional support.
Whether it be through phone calls, video chats, or weekly game nights, nurturing relationships can go a long way in helping reduce stress levels. Plus, your home will be looking great after #4 on this list is done, so why not show it off by inviting loved ones over?
6. Practice self-care for stress relief
Self-care is an important step toward relieving stress. Take time to do something nice for yourself every day, such as sipping a cup of tea and enjoying a few minutes of silence.
This will help relax the body and mind and can go a long way in reducing stress levels. Furthermore, self-care can help boost confidence and improve mood.
Practicing is important as it doesn’t come easy to everyone to spend time on themselves. Self-care is vital, and it replenishes your energy levels, enabling you to function well and to be there for others when they need it.
7. Reach out for professional help
If stress is having a significant impact on your life, it may be time to reach out for help. Many resources are available online, and by phone, such as counseling and therapy, to help you cope with difficult emotions and learn how to manage stress better.
Additionally, medications and alternative therapies like acupuncture can also be beneficial in relieving stress. You can book the appointment from home.
8. Make sleep a priority
Lack of sleep can significantly increase stress levels, so it’s important to prioritize getting enough rest. Aim for 8 hours of quality sleep each night, and create an ideal sleeping environment by keeping your room dark and cool, avoiding electronics before bedtime, and using essential oils or white noise machines if needed.
In addition, a nighttime routine can help relax the body and mind. That can be helpful in stress reduction.
9. Reduce caffeine intake
Too much caffeine can negatively affect stress levels and lead to other health issues, such as anxiety, headaches, and insomnia. Try reducing the amount of coffee, energy drinks, and soda consumed daily. Or switch to decaf if needed.
Takeaway on relieving stress at home
The key takeaway here is that stress management is important for both mental and physical health. Taking proactive steps to reduce stress at home can have a positive impact on overall well-being, allowing you to live a healthier, more enjoyable life. In addition, investing in yourself now can pay dividends in the long run.
By incorporating these tips into your daily routine, you will be well on your way to combating stress more effectively at home. Remember that stress is a normal part of life, but it’s important to take care of yourself mentally and physically to stay healthy and happy. Finally, everyone responds differently to different sources of stress relief, so don’t be afraid to experiment until you find a routine that works best for you.
I have been decluttering for 2 years. The universe keeps sending in more stuff, as I create space. I find hand sewing and drawing to be relaxing.
I’m loving your artwork! Keep up the drawing :)
Yeah, I’ll have to be vigilant in case a mice rescue is needed!
Indeed!
Great tips! And, actually, I did break down a while ago and get some D8 gummies, and I had them in the kitchen drawer, and I opened it, and I was like “Oh shoot, I forgot to seal up the package” because the last gummy was out of the package. I also had a piece of another gummy in there, and I couldn’t find that one. I found the package, and it looked like it had been shredded, and then I remembered that Moon Pie was staring fixedly at the drawer a few days ago. Then I was like “OHHHH”! I guess I have a wee mouse that helped himself to my D8 gummies. ROFL!
OMG was Moon Pie okay? Well I guess you’ll have to get more gummies!
Moon Pie is the cat. The mouse hasn’t been caught by Moon Pie…yet. (I’m dreading the day…or night, because with a cat like Moon Pie, it’s just a matter of time.)
Oh, no, it was the mouse that ate the gummy bit, not Moon Pie! Ha!
Ohhh I misunderstood and thought the cat had eaten it. Ohhhh our orange cat would be all over that mouse!
I know. Moon Pie will be the cat to catch it, for sure! She’s a very fierce hunter!
And, yeah, I wouldn’t bet on the mice’s chances, if it’s routinely snacking on CBD gummies. Ha!
LOL I wasn’t sure what you were going to say in the comment back!
This would make a really good visual. As much as our mind knows this stuff, we often have to be reminded!
You’re right, Dorothy. It never hurts to have a reminder (or two or three)!
Excellent tips, Christy. Meditation has been a lifesaver for me, as has simplifying my life. It would be nice to fix the insomnia, but I reckon my sleep button is well and truly broken, lols. Thanks for sharing 💕🙂
I’m sorry you have insomnia, Harmony. That must make the shut-eye extra valuable! Your short story on Vocal was amazing ~, and now i think it’s even more so after realizing you did that on little sleep 💗
Thanks so much, Christy! I’m smiling big right now 😁💖🤗💖
Awe!
Hi Christy, some very good tips here. I try to do most of these things. Unfortunately, when there are big work crunches there is no time for these things and that is when I come undone.
Robbie, stress comes on slowly for me, mounting like a weight on the shoulders. I think it’s helpful to know our patterns and prep for it if possible (which it often isn’t as that’s life…). HUGS
🤗💖

What if there is very little to be done?
Making the time is essential. That involves looking at the day and seeing where to fit in even 5 minutes in the day for yourself. Perhaps it is waking up 5 minutes earlier? Or taking 5 minutes at lunchtime? xx
