Considering changing jobs? 3 options to think about

An open notebook with a label reading "3 options for a new job"

At some point in life, most people feel the need to make a drastic change. Often, this dramatic change revolves around career choice. And why not? If you’re in a role where you’re overworked, underpaid, and dissatisfied, then you deserve to find something new. And you can do exactly that. It’s just trying to figure out where to begin. To give you a helping hand if you’re considering changing jobs, here are three options to think about.

1. Real estate agent

It doesn’t get much more exciting than the real estate industry, for a number of reasons. The demand for property is never going to die, so you can be sure to have a job for life when you get into this role.

There is also a great path for progression here. You have the opportunity to continually better yourself and become an incredible seller. If you get involved with a business that looks after its employees, such as Compass, then you’re sure to have a happy, lucrative career that lasts.

One of the perks of being a realtor as a mom, in particular, is the flexibility of the schedule. You set your hours and how many clients to take on.

2. Social media manager

A fairly modern role that’s emerged out of necessity is working as a social media manager. This position allows you to have fun with tasks online. Plus, you can specialize in a particular niche, whether it’s posting photos of food for restaurants or promoting events on behalf of venues.

When it comes to the work, you get to focus on the types of clients that interest you. The range of choices available is one of the best things about this role. Also, if you’re already accustomed to the different social channels, you probably have the basic knowledge to do well in the role.

As a social media manager, you will handle several activities, including:

  • Create a social plan for each of your clients
  • Ensure they’re happy with the said plan
  • Take photos and videos
  • Stay consistent with the brand content, while ensuring it’s high quality

This online job is one of many careers that use modern technology. From the desktop to the smartphone and tablet, you will likely work on a range of devices in the managerial position.

3. Dog walking

It’s a slightly different choice from the others on the list, but hear me out! If you love animals and the great outdoors, dog walking can be an amazing way of making money. Once you build up a client base and have pups that you walk regularly, you can actually earn a decent wage too.

It’s great if you love to walk in your free time anyway, as now you get to do it with furry friends while getting paid for it! To find your clients, speak to folks in your local area, set up a digital marketing campaign, or consider more traditional marketing methods, such as flyers.

As a dog walker, you can work independently or for a company. Choose between walking one dog at a time or several at once.

Concluding thoughts on considering changing jobs

If your current job is causing a lot of stress, going down the dog walking route could be incredibly refreshing. If you’re independent, it might even get to the point where you have too much work on your hands and start hiring people to help you. Or, you might want to get into the real estate or social media industries.

The job roles above are all very different, and they’re ones to consider as you look ahead. They each have elements of excitement to them. Do any of them appeal to you?
