How to create an easy morning routine

Easy morning routine

One of the keys to having a good day is to start it off the right way. Many people simply get out of bed, have breakfast, shower, dress, and start work. Although this is a routine, it will not put a spring in your step or help you feel overly positive. It’s a much better idea to come up with a good easy morning routine or ritual that puts you in a happy, healthy, positive frame of mind for the rest of the day. Read on to find out what you can do to make this happen.

Freshen up

Whether you like to get dressed early or wait until the last minute, try to freshen up as soon as you get out of bed by splashing your face with water. That may not sound like the most pleasant thing to do first thing in the morning, especially in winter, but it’s actually a wonderful idea. The shock of the cold water will instantly wake you up, making the rest of your morning routine easier to handle.

Once you’ve splashed your face with cold water, put in your sports contact lenses and brush your teeth – before you’ve had breakfast. It might sound strange but it can be very effective at waking you up fully.

Brew your coffee

Assuming you like to drink a cup of coffee in the morning, now is the time to set brewing it. Instant coffee is convenient, but it doesn’t always taste as good as freshly brewed coffee.

So, if you don’t have a coffee maker at home, it’s well worth the investment. Start brewing your coffee after you’ve freshened up, and you’ll be able to smell the aroma while you’re continuing with the a.m. routine.

This scent will make the cup you drink much anticipated. Plus, just smelling coffee brewing can improve your focus and increase your energy.

Exercise in your easy morning routine

You don’t have to leave the house for a run or go to the gym if you prefer not to do so. Being active at home is a great option, and it doesn’t have to take long either.

Just ten minutes of high-energy exercise in the morning can be enough to get your heart pumping and your blood flowing. This activity helps keep you fit, and healthy, and improves your energy levels.

If you want to do more, you can do it later on in the day when you have more time. But this short burst of activity in the morning is a great way to truly wake up and start the day in the right way.

Write a daily to-do list

Now that you’re wide awake and feeling good, it’s time to write your to-do list for the day. This can include every aspect of what you need to do, or it can be a little more flexible and vague – you simply need to understand what it means.

The to-do list isn’t just to remind you of important tasks, by the way. It’s also a way to engage your brain and ensure you focus on the right things.

It’s easy to get distracted when there is a lot to do. That can, unfortunately, mean that you get overwhelmed and end up doing nothing at all. By writing the daily tasks down, you can go through them carefully and methodically and ensure everything gets done. Of course, you can drink the freshly brewed coffee while you’re writing the list.

    1. I enjoy a nice cup of coffee too in the morning too. Waving from Canada’s west coast!

  1. Nice article Christy! Sometimes just setting your alarm five minutes earlier gives you that little extra wiggle room to have a more relaxed routine in the morning. It’s such a beautiful time of day, and the coffee brewing is one of my favorite aromas in the world!
