Today is the first day of spring, and that’s exciting! I’m happy for the warmer weather to come, the flowers to blossom and the many walks to come on local trails. The Vernal Equinox occurs on this date, which is why it is the first day of spring. Now the days will get longer, making for more daylight and shorter nights, until Summer Solstice, when the opposite will happen to the days. Along with the warm sun of spring days that gives me a wonderful reason to smile, here are some great events celebrating women during the spring season.
Spring Forward Event
Continuing through the rest of March is the Spring Forward event in Brighton on England’s south coast. It celebrates female contributions to digital culture. If you’re there and want to encourage women in technology, then there are several events for you to check out.
Fashion Collections Celebrating Women
Miuccia Prada’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection was celebrating women. She approached that 2018 fashion lineup as, “Just wanting to change the world. Especially for women, because there’s so much against us, still.” Many fashion lines globally continue to move forward with creations in the same empowering spirit.
AWL Spring Celebration
The Association of Women Lawyers in Calgary, Alberta is often simply known as AWL. This group has a yearly Spring Celebration. This event honors newly-appointed female attorneys who recently passed the Alberta Bar. They gather in the AWL community to listen to quotes and anecdotes from more established lawyers.
Poet~tree EnMotion is Celebrating Women Too
Do you live in Philadelphia, PA instead? If so, then stop by The Rotunda for a free community get-together held by Poet-tree EnMotion. This event is called The Spring Equinox in Celebration of Women. It showcases women from a wide range of arts; watch for female musicians, drumming groups, poets, and more.
Women’s History Month
Finally, of course, March is Women’s History Month. It brings attention to the achievements of females in history. Honestly, my goal is celebrating women throughout the year, rather than just one month. After all, females have done amazing things for our world, from impacting women’s rights to making impressive inventions.

So many exciting things to look forward to. I’m counting down the days until our hummingbirds return. The other day I purchased a feeder that has 20 feeding stations for my little friends, even so, I know they’ll still fight over the nectar…it’s what they do. Happy spring, Christy! <3
