Strong women everywhere are breaking stereotypes and glass ceilings in industries. Whether it’s fighting for equal pay or starting a company, allow their stories to inspire you! Women have historically been underrepresented in positions of power and leadership, but female leaders are paving the path for future generations. And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is leading the pack.
Who Is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
She’s the youngest woman, at age 29, to be elected to U.S. Congress. But what’s more impressive is her determination and fearlessness to challenge the status quo. She’s not afraid to fight for what she believes in if it helps leave the world we live in a better place.
Also, Alexandria is both honest and authentic, all the while not forgetting her difficult background, which is why so many people look up to her. She uses social media as a platform to make noise and fight for democratic and socialist issues, but her true goal is to give everyone an equal life, regardless of their upbringing. Through her everyday actions, the issues, and the people she represents, there are inspiring life lessons we can all gather from AOC.
Leave the World a Better Place
Being a powerful woman doesn’t always mean putting yourself first. Alexandria makes it a point to represent the underrepresented. She’s said, “My job is to put other people’s needs before my own, not the other way around.”
She also strives to leave the world a better place.
How to Lean on Others
Even after being elected into Congress, Alexandria never strays from her humble upbringing and background. Born in New York to a Puerto Rican mother and a father from the Bronx, she uses this as her guiding force to stand up for the people of New York.
Alexandria also waitressed as she was running for Congress. Aside from this, she had made a name for herself through the policies and legislation she stands for.
We’re also reminded that it’s okay to ask for help and no one’s perfect. “I keep things raw and honest… I believe public servants do a disservice to our communities by pretending to be perfect. It makes things harder for others who aspire to run someday if they think they have to be superhuman before they even try.”
Be Confident and Authentic
Confidence comes from within. When you’re comfortable in your own skin, confident and authentically yourself, you can more easily fight for what you believe in. AOC promotes this.
“Rule number one is to be authentic, be yourself. Don’t try to be anyone that you’re not.” She makes it look easy by going up against positions of power.”
Furthermore, she is no stranger to taking discomfort and turning it into a learning experience. “I’ve used fear as a guiding light instead of a reason to turn off…Fear tells us how to grow. Fear, like a lot of discomfort, forces us to choose: ‘Do I do this, or not?’”

The first big noise she made was to be elected in Congress. It is an example of what young people can achieve today if they propose it. It only has social networks and that was enough to move the soil to the sacred monsters of American politics. She is an admirable woman. A good article
It’s interesting isn’t it to think that many people who have made huge changes in history have been quite young. It’s fresh thinking and it’s what’s needed to advance the world on many levels.

Interesting take on AOC. I’m not trying to start a fight – because I respect your opinion – hopefully, you will respect mine as well. There are many women that inspire me – but, certainly not AOC. I am still waiting to see her plans to build a bridge to Europe. She may be gutsy – but she is not practical. For someone to be paid $175,000/year of Taxpayer dollars – I like to see them at least make sense.
I think we can all agree that building a bridge to Europe so we can ban airplanes is simply not practical.
I respect your opinion because you back it up and don’t resort to personal digs, which I see far too often in criticisms online. Thanks for sharing your honest views as that’s what invokes change.
I don’t know much about US politics except for the President, of course. Alexandria sounds like a good contender.
