Best Holiday Makeup Looks, Including Eye Glitter

Eye glitter holiday tips

This is Katie! The holidays are always a hectic time of year, preparing to spend time with loved ones and family. One thing that should not be hectic however is your holiday makeup look. Whether you’re throwing a Christmas party with friends or spending Easter with your family, everyone should have a signature holiday look that is quick, simple, and still looks fantastic. One of the biggest holiday makeup looks right now, especially for Christmas, is eye glitter.

Subtle Holiday Makeup Looks

I love experimenting with glitter in my looks for the holidays. With all the lights glowing around you the glitter specks shimmer more in the light, giving your facial skin a nice glow and shine.

You can start simple with a glittery eyeshadow look. If you want something more natural and professional-looking, I would recommend wearing a shimmery golden eyeshadow on the lids, then lining the top lash line with a dark brown or black liner, and adding some mascara.

The glitter in the gold eyeshadow gives a subtle shine to your eyes, making them appear bigger and brighter. It’s a great way to stand out at holidays like Christmas, Easter, and New Year’s Eve.

Or Go Bold: A 5-Step Eye Glitter Guide

For more of a holiday party look, follow these steps:

  1. Start with a white shadow on the lid as a base
  2. Add some gold cream shadow to the eyes
  3. Take some gold or rose gold glitter
  4. Dab some glitter onto a makeup brush
  5. Gently tap the brush onto your eyelids to add some glitter

Once done, apply 2 or 3 coats of mascara. This is an example of bolder makeup looks. You will definitely stand out at a holiday party – in a great way!

Other Ways to Add Glitter to Your Holiday Makeup Looks

Other simple ways to add some glitter to your makeup and to add some shimmer and shine to your holiday look are to:

  • Use a good highlight, or
  • Add some glitter to your lipstick

When it comes to getting a good highlight, buy a cream highlighter, and apply it to your cheeks and above your brows. Add some glitter mixed into your highlight cream to give some extra shimmer to your look. You can also do this with your lipstick, such as matte red or pink lipstick. Then, taking a lipstick brush or thin paintbrush, dip the brush into either a glittery eyeshadow or eye glitter.

Another great tip is to next tap the brush in the center of your lips, gently adding some glitter to your lipstick. Seal this look with a clear gloss. You’ll find your makeup look has some extra glitter and shine, without going overboard.

There’s even glitter concentrate, which is super cool! That explains why it’s one of the top beauty trends.

Glitter up Your Lashes Too

Also, if you’re a fan of false lashes, purchase some with glitter added to the lashes. You can find these at most makeup and beauty supply stores, or a costume store. Apply the false lashes with lash glue, then put on some mascara. Again, this adds a subtle glittery look to your eyes. To complete the amazing look, use simple gold matte eyeshadow and black eyeliner.

How to Easily Remove Holiday Makeup Looks

These looks add a subtle hint of glitter, without going too over the top. With glitter, when you go for a subtler look, you can still easily keep your makeup looks clean and precise.

Glitter can be tricky to remove, so if it is mixed in with your shadows, highlighter, or lipstick, it makes for easier removal when you’re done rocking your look. I always go with more gold glitter looks, because silver tends to be too bold and bright and is harder to pair with your outfit and the rest of your holiday makeup.

So have fun this holiday season, and be bright with your makeup look, adding a little eye glitter for some sparkle and shine during the holidays.
