The Reality: Asking for Donations for When Women Inspire

Dear friends,

Thank you for being here. I am grateful for every new subscriber! I am nearing the 10,000 followers mark and this is a huge milestone that I will mark with a contest (details to come in July!). I am delighted by the outpouring of support for the blog.

But, sadly, all of this time that is put into the blog is not covering my bills. Outside of blogging, I am a freelance writer. This is my career. I am in my 6th year and love what I do. Recently finding myself short of client work, I am coming to you all with a request to help keep me going here.

I am asking for $1 from anyone here who can spare it. I know many people are in difficult times. I’m just looking for a way to keep growing this blog and hopefully make it into my main income. I love helping people and this blog is a platform that brings me joy. You all mean a lot to me. If you are able to give a dollar, I would appreciate it. I’m going to use that money toward continuing to write here (time spent writing, WordPress renewal, ad costs, etc.). To donate, please click through to the donation page.

I appreciate every one of you.

♥ Christy

    1. Sorry Alison for the late response ♥ I received beautiful donations and am so thankful. I love your encouraging words here xo

  1. If I had the ability to donate something right now I would. I love your site and you’re such an amazingly supportive person and an amazing writer. I am going to be in the same spot you are as a freelance writer and trying to run a blog on the side. When I can, I will donate to your site I will. I just wanted to let you know that you are such an inspiration. Keep on writing!! ❤

    1. Oh Samantha, thank you so much – Your words mean a lot to me! You’ll make it – We both will! <3 Love that you're here!

    2. Thanks Christy! I understand how things can slow down for us freelances and I wanted to let you know I seriously support you and what you do. If your looking for some work as a feeelancer – for the time being – I know my company is always taking on more writers. Just let me know. I thought I’d throw that out there. ❤

  2. Hi Christy,

it seems that my card has expired, and I just took a new one and sent you a payment, which is in pending phase. I hope you will get it :)

    best regards

  3. You are a wonderful and kind soul. Is there any way to pay apart from Paypal? It would be a privilege to support you and the ahavaha team is blessed knowing you.

    1. Hi Christy, I’m sorry for the late response. I decided to use paypal to support you since we have a balance there. Is there a way to pay without incurring the extra charge? You can send an email with the paypal email so I can send our support.
      Kind regards.

  4. If I could help I would, Christy. Good luck with things ahead and hope work picks up soon. What you do on this blog is admirable, putting out posts each week that are so informative and educational. I do wonder how you keep up alongside freelance work…you must work smart. Take care and hugs <3

    1. Thank you, Mabel. I have some long work days, for sure… But I’m always grateful for loyal readers such as yourself. Thank you for the support here week after week <3

  5. I can empathize with your situation, Christy. I left a career in the medical field to pursue this dream of writing, and so far it hasn’t been very lucrative. I survive with the support of family and friends myself, so I sent you what I could. I hope things get better for you soon.

  6. My beautiful Christy, you give us such motivation, inspiration and love and I know if must have taken you a lot of courage to post this particular blog. We all want you to keep going, keep doing what you do. I really hope the freelance work picks up again. As you know I’m an unpaid carer but I will find a little something from my musical dreams budget to give you. Someone above mentioned Patreon…a lot of US singers use that to fund their careers…may be worth investigating. Huge sparkles of love xxx

  7. Hi Christy, Asking for help is difficult. It took courage to do so. Many of us are feeling the pinch too. It is difficult making a living out of writing, especially when so much on the internet is free. We live in hope. I wish you success in monetising your blog. You offer readers a lot of wonderful advice. I look forward to hearing the results of your request. Best wishes,

    1. I totally understand and please feel no pressure to contribute, Maniparna. I love having your friendship and saw your share on social media too – This all means a lot to me <3 Blessings to you and family

    1. Thank you, Wanda, for your donation! I love your site by the way – I have been meaning to tell you what you courage you have <3

  8. There is a certain nobility in saying, “y’all need to support me.” It means that you’re also finding your voice. Please report back to us how this goes and…it’s not a bad model to embrace. You know the Brain Pickings blog? She operates by donation and does great with it. There are other blogs that have levels of donations and they get something in return – like a shout out, a free ebook, etc. Lastly, there’s Patreon – basically you get your fans to pay you to keep going. Just wanted to share as I’m exploring these options myself for when I finish my meditation teaching training – I will want to hustle to keep everything that I’m doing, going. :) You can do it, Christy! We’re cheering you on!

    1. Thank you Cyndi for telling me about those membership models for blogs and websites – I appreciate it and will look further into whether it would work here. I also say thank you kindly for your donation. I am so glad to have you on my cheering squad – and to know there’s a group of supporters who want me to keep going – this is HUGE to me xxoo

  9. A very brave thing to do, which must have took guts so I think you’ve done so well to broach the subject. I’m struggling financially after losing my job, and needing another surgery and seeing how my health has gone downhill makes the future very scary. Freelance writing can be a very tough one with fluctuating work, so I hope your workload can pick back up again soon.

A $1 donation is definitely manageable – I’ve donated $2, and I’m sorry it’s not more but I do hope it can add up for you from your supporters on here because we love you and your blog! ♥

    1. Oh Caz, I am humbled by what you wrote here and that in spite of your own situation you gave to me – so generous. I am so glad to know you through blogging. May things look up soon for you too – sending healing thoughts your way and will hope to repay the support in the future. Thank you <3

  10. I hope you get a huge response to this, Christy. I know what it must have taken to post it. I’m in the same boat as Beckie but can offer my love, support, and hugs. Hope that helps in some way ❤️

    1. Yes, it was a tough one to post for sure. I didn’t expect the decline in my workload. I love having you here and absolutely it means the world to me <3

    1. Times are tough right now for so many people… Thank you for being here and for the social shares. I am always honored when you share my work!

    1. I totally get it! And when I’m back on my feet I’ll be sharing many more blog posts here. I love having your support, Beckie. Thank you <3

    1. It’s a donation via PayPal, Tammy. I’ve updated the post with the link (at end of the post). Even if it’s a $1. Thank you :)
