Dear friends,
Thank you for being here. I am grateful for every new subscriber! I am nearing the 10,000 followers mark and this is a huge milestone that I will mark with a contest (details to come in July!). I am delighted by the outpouring of support for the blog.
But, sadly, all of this time that is put into the blog is not covering my bills. Outside of blogging, I am a freelance writer. This is my career. I am in my 6th year and love what I do. Recently finding myself short of client work, I am coming to you all with a request to help keep me going here.
I am asking for $1 from anyone here who can spare it. I know many people are in difficult times. I’m just looking for a way to keep growing this blog and hopefully make it into my main income. I love helping people and this blog is a platform that brings me joy. You all mean a lot to me. If you are able to give a dollar, I would appreciate it. I can empathize with your situation, Christy. I left a career in the medical field to pursue this dream of writing, and so far it hasn’t been very lucrative. I survive with the support of family and friends myself, so I sent you what I could. I hope things get better for you soon.

There is a certain nobility in saying, “y’all need to support me.” It means that you’re also finding your voice. Please report back to us how this goes and…it’s not a bad model to embrace. You know the Brain Pickings blog? She operates by donation and does great with it. There are other blogs that have levels of donations and they get something in return – like a shout out, a free ebook, etc. Lastly, there’s Patreon – basically you get your fans to pay you to keep going. Just wanted to share as I’m exploring these options myself for when I finish my meditation teaching training – I will want to hustle to keep everything that I’m doing, going. :) You can do it, Christy! We’re cheering you on!

A very brave thing to do, which must have took guts so I think you’ve done so well to broach the subject. I’m struggling financially after losing my job, and needing another surgery and seeing how my health has gone downhill makes the future very scary. Freelance writing can be a very tough one with fluctuating work, so I hope your workload can pick back up again soon.
