Weekly Inspiration Roundup, Volume 28

A rainbow is motivating to see

As we get through January, many of us are taking stock of what goals to set in 2018 and how to best meet our New Year’s resolutions. It takes devotion to these things to make us continue to strive for them. The easier route is to give up, but I know you can do better than that :) If you need some uplifting words for your day, I hope this group of inspirational blog posts from across the WordPress universe will provide you with exactly that. You’ve been publishing great blogs, and here are just a few of the ones I’ve read over the past week:

Finding the Ideal Writing Location

Where is the “write” place? This is the question Jill Weatherholt asks in her blog post. Is it a quiet place at home or a busy coffee shop that you desire as the atmosphere for sitting down to write your manuscript, blog post, school assignment, or another project? This is an interesting and inspiring discussion from Jill, and I thank her for always supporting me here with my writing too!

Foods and Breastfeeding

For moms-to-be or breastfeeding moms out there, you may wonder what to eat and what to avoid. This blog post from Michelle M. defines all of this so that both mom and baby are content during this special time. There are certain foods for a breastfeeding woman to eat to not only help her stay healthy but also increase her milk supply. Also, certain foods aren’t good for the baby. This is an informative blog read.

Enjoying the Single Life

Blogger Mithivandi chats in this new post about enjoying being single. Many women (and men) feel societal pressure to be in a relationship. But the reality is that you ARE enough on your own. You don’t need anyone else. Remaining single is a choice, and there’s nothing wrong with it, whether you are in India, as Mithivandi is, or elsewhere in the world.

Recipe for Chocolate Porridge

This is on my “to-make” list. I’m trying to expand my cooking skills and I adore chocolate sooooo this recipe for chocolate porridge appeals to me. It’s from the blog Happy Healthy Tash and uses organic cacao powder as a healthier way to get that chocolate fix that some of us (me!) crave. It seems fairly straightforward to make. Thanks Tash!

Liking Our Experiences

In the blog post titled Love Experience, Rotimi writes about “living love.” This includes looking back at how we love and how others love us, with the hope that this brings to mind good memories and positive energy. Let’s make a promise to love and be loved in a way that makes us smile. I like that inspiring message!

  1. Lots of interesting picks to check out that I’m busy going through now. Especially like the ones on being single & not being a people pleaser that I’ve just looked so far. Thanks for sharing :)

  2. Love this post-positive place to start the week. I like the one about finding a writing location. Since I am constantly “on the move” I am looking for the right place to write each day. It has been on the floor, on a couch, with music on, at a coffee shop, and at a hotel so far. Tonight it is on my parents’ couch. Finding a good spot can be challenging but it is important when focusing!

  3. A nice roundup, Christy… I particularly liked the post “happily single”… I am glad that you included that one after your last post, as that one seemed to focus on trusting issues and how to sort them in order to be with someone … I believe that one doesn´t need a partner to be happy… Some people could feel a pressure: to have a partner, to get married and to have a family. These are just assumptions, definitions… and constructions made to fit… Why would that work for everyone, keeping in mind that we are all so different?.
I personally like to date with no commitments. And not to be stick with someone. Maybe that´s because I haven´t met someone I completely fell for. Maybe it is because I value my independence above everything and I like to be on my own, meet guys when I want to. Lots of confident women, succesful and pretty are single. And happy. Lots of women don´t have kids, and they are happy. The problem is in terms of societal expectations, both genders are expected to have specific roles … and these roles are outdated, and not too feministic either, as feminism stresses the power and worth of women per se, their achievements… and not if they fullfil what society expects of them.
Happiness has to do with freedom … and our choices.
    Sending love <3

  4. Thank you, as always, Christy for sharing my story on kindness. In these busy times, “When Women Inspire” is always on my list of must reads. I know so many others feel the same way.

    I appreciate your kindness. :-)
