It’s Friday, and if you’re feeling inspired creatively, you’re not alone! Sometimes just knowing the weekend is around the corner can give us some extra energy to walk deeper into imagination land. May your writing be all you want it to be!
This week has been full of inspiring blog posts, including one on gratitude for family time, what it means to show support, and a celebration of a 4 year blogging anniversary. Let’s get to it :)
Teagan Geneviene on the Writing Process
Teagan Geneviene is a talented author who regularly publishes serials on her blog. In her recent posting, Jazz Age Wednesdays 16 – Champagne Tidbit from Murder at the Bijou, she explained that she had recently been criticized for writing a scene in which Pip’s father told her the boardroom was not a place for a girl.
I admire how Teagan counteracted the reader by explaining this is a “real world setting” that took place in an era of change. By not acknowledging the wrongs of the past then, how we can commend those women and men who helped enact changes gender-wise for the better? Way to stand up and be inspiring, Teagan!
Happy 4th Anniversary to The Chicago Files
We all have those blogs we follow weekly, if not daily. One of mine is The Chicago Files. Blogger Cher regularly shares stunning photographs and tidbits around Chicago. Recently she celebrated four years of the blog, and I wanted to share the great news in case you are looking for a fun blog to follow. Cher is so sweet in her comments and… is a fellow Canadian!
Butterfly Art
Given the header for this blog is a butterfly, it’s probably not a big surprise that I chose this post. I like the symbolism of butterflies as they grow wings, transforming from a caterpillar. The Crazy Bag Lady crafted a lovely butterfly with acrylic and oil on canvas. Take a look and behold the beauty.
Follow Your Passion
Ah, I love this post! Author Tina Frisco guest posts over at D.G. Kaye’s blog, where she explains that we all can evoke positive change.
Tina’s blog post, titled Follow Your Passion, speaks of releasing old beliefs and ways of doing things to welcome those actions that create the life we want. It’s so inspiring, especially in the turbulent times that surround us as we kick off 2018.
Supporting One Another
Where would we be without a supportive hand? I know I would be in a very different place.
Now is the time to support each other, explains Kalyn in her inspirational blog post titled What does it mean to show support? In her post, Kalyn explains that she has the desire to help women and goes into detail as to how she will do so. I’m cheering her (and you all) on!
Books for Achieving More This New Year
Jay Colby has put together a wonderful list of 10 books that can help you to achieve the life you desire this year and beyond. Jay’s picks include the motivational read “Outliers: The Story of Success” by Malcolm Gladwell, as well as “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho.
I haven’t read even one of the listed reads, so I better get on that! Have you read any of them?
Less Criticism in 2018
Yes, Lisa Orchard is onto something here! She blogs this week about the negative messages women receive throughout their lives. Perhaps it’s being told, “That’s a man’s job” or “Calm down.” It’s time for a change, and only by grouping together can we move from receiving judgment to more positive messages, explains Lisa. I recommend her uplifting blog!

Great selection, Christy – some I’d already read. Of course I had to check out The Bag Lady’s butterfly too. I agree that butterflies are rather special. Have a great next week!

Teagan has been criticized , what for telling the truth?
