Dr. Andrea Dinardo is back with another great post, this time about empowering students in the classroom. Between tests and growth spurts (physically and mentally), many students have anxiety and stress. This post focuses on providing students with a safe environment in which they feel heard. Once this foundation is made then students are better able to learn! I encourage you to read not only the post but also the comments below it that take the discussion further.
Irene with Jewelry and Hope
For those of you who know Irene of IreneDesign2011, you will no doubt agree with me that she is an inspiring female. She crafts beautiful jewelry (I’ve personally bought two gorgeous sets of earrings from her) and has such a friendly spirit. In addition to being a blogging friend to many of us, Irene is also a woman of strength as she recently overcame a life-threatening medical issue and is thankfully healing now and continuing to share kind words in the comment sections of so many of our blogs. I want to say how much I adore her!
Quotes of Wisdom – The Power of Letting Go
Recently, psychotherapist Bonnie A. McKeegan connected with me in the blog world. When I read her post on Quotes of Wisdom, I knew it was one I had to share in the weekly inspirational roundup. She explains that while it is hard to let go of some connections and also certain memories, this is necessary to do to move on in a healthy way. Her words are very insightful and I hope you hit the Follow button her blog.

Who knew that a rogue nun named Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz was the first feminist in America? I found out a lot by reading this post on Vivian Writes. This detailed historical post explains the feminist manifesto she wrote, the response from the Church to it, and more. I don’t want to give away too many details, but it’s worth heading over to check it out.
Making Decisions Isn’t Always Easy
Mel Hopkins has a blog I’ve been following for a few months now. She is genuine and never shies away from tough topics. In this post, she explains that decisions aren’t always clear-cut. She explains in her recent blog post that life isn’t about chance but instead about choice. To quote her, “Once we understand our choices, the decisions we make thereafter are easy.” Nodding.
Helping Children Learn to Write
At Old house in the Shires, you’ll find many useful posts, and this one is no exception. It provides five easy ways to help your young child learn to write. These include activities that you might not associate right away with building up the related muscles for writing, including playing with hoops outdoors and putting Lego pieces together. For any parent or grandparent, this post is educational goodness.
Amy Reminds Us about the Power of the Positive
Amy Caudill shares words on how to be actively positive in her most recent blog post. As she points out, being forced to spend time with someone who radiates negative energy only sucks the life right out of us. She suggests retaining a positive outlook, even in the face of stressful and depressing events. As per Amy, the best thing to do is to look around for the “hidden gold” so that you can find ways to get through these tough times. Her suggestions and the quality of her words are well worth the read.

LOVED the link to the article about empowering students. I teach at a Title I school and am constantly trying to find ways to help my kiddos feel empowered and hopeful. But when it comes down to it, what they really need is to feel safe, loved, and encouraged. Thanks for the reminder!
