There are numerous reasons why you might find yourself confined to your bed for a period of time. The most obvious are those regarding health; an injury or illness that means you have to follow doctor’s orders until you’re back to your best.

The idea of being on bed rest sounds, to the average busy person, pretty ideal. Bed is the space we all love; that we have to reluctantly drag ourselves from every morning, and leave behind when we go to work with a forlorn last longing glance. I was at the dentist recently for a check up and some restoration work on one of my teeth that had broken. The dentist noted that my teeth were exhibiting some acid erosion and that I needed to reduce the amount of fizzy and fruit drinks I was consuming.

I rarely have any fizzy drinks and I am pretty careful about fruit juices too and I decided to explore my acid erosion a little further. I tend to drink bottled water and filtered tap water in tea and coffee, and since the majority of the fluid I drink is water, I decided to check out the pH value which determines if a substance is acidic or alkaline.
