How to change my lifestyle? It’s more than what you eat

A positive mindset adds to dietary changes for lifestyle improvement

We hear the term “I am changing my lifestyle” bounced around a lot, but what does that really mean? For many, it can mean what they eat. Perhaps not just going on some diet to lose weight but actually really considering what they put in their mouth, like deciding against eating meat and becoming a vegetarian. Or even taking it one step further and becoming a vegan. Of course, changing what you eat and taking better care of that side of your life will always have a positive effect on your lifestyle, but is it enough? Here are some other ways to improve your lifestyle, including having a positive mindset.

Get more active

Becoming more active is a great way to change your lifestyle. Having greater fitness levels means that your energy levels increase, as well as affecting how you feel mentally. You can start to feel less lethargic, perhaps more alert throughout the day or at those times of the day where your attention can flounder. Exercise doesn’t need to be heading to the gym each day, it’s just about being active in general. So choose to walk somewhere instead of driving. Maybe take your dog out for an extra walk each day. You could choose to try out new home workouts and take advantage of a website like YouTube where there are endless routines to follow. From yoga to HIIT training you will be sure to find something that suits you. It can be hard to do it alone, so why not try and involve the whole family. It could be a worthwhile exercise for you all.

Increase your energy levels

Energy is something we could all do with a little more of. So why not place some of your focus to change on this specific requirement. There are plenty of different methods, and things to try, such as smoothies you drink daily, or even taking additional supplements of nutrients and vitamins to enhance your diet. Energy levels can be increased by also getting better quality sleep at night. So try and encourage a decent sleep by changing your routine before bed. Avoiding technology, alcohol, or caffeinated drinks.

Drink more water

Water is seen as a natural detox for your body, and we should be drinking at least two liters of the stuff a day. But it can be difficult to get into the routine of drinking water so it might be worth trying to focus your attention on this. Drinking more water can help with your energy levels, the quality of sleep you get, and even improve your skin tone. There are many health benefits to it. A quick tip would be to keep a bottle with you at all times. If you are unsure of the taste, then why not infuse water with fruit

Have a positive mindset

Finally, having a positive mindset can really change your outlook on life, along with other ways to improve how you feel and look. Negativity can breed negativity, and before we know it, we can be feeling doom and gloom. A positive outlook and thought process is one thing you have complete control over.

Try it today and see if how makes a difference in your life.

  1. Yes!! Healthy lifestyles are everything we put in our bodies, feed our minds, and put on our skin. It’s who and what we come in contact with. Healthy is a big picture.

  2. nice post. It’s true. To improve lifestyle one should take care of all the factors that influence our life directly/ indirectly.

By the way, I published a post on 29 ways to get a better lifestyle.

  3. A lovely read…. and so true. My next blog, to help my clients is about Changing Mindset, your tips are so beneficial to creating a healthy lifestyle. Thank you.

  4. I agree that if someone wants to be “healthy”, they need to change their lifestyle. I feel like many struggle (myself included) with the points you list. Like drinking water! Consistency is key- something that I lack (apparently). Thanks for sharing!

  5. This is very true. Healty lifestyle is so much more than food. For me, it’s changing my mindset towards things and living in a more positive way. Food, activity etc. then become a by-product of that. Great things to share and help people to think about :)

  6. This was a great read! there was a lot of helpful and mindful tips, I love what you wrote about positive mindsets. I am constantly telling my school kids about keeping a growth mindset in learning and I think its good words to live by!

  7. Some good points and yes we need to change not just food but our lifestyle and ask questions as to what is in our food try and eat naturally…No additives and enjoy…Laughter is the best medicine there is :)

  8. True!… Great tips here… Body and mind: both are important, a positive mindset is a “must” if we want to live a good Life, right?.-. Many hugs & happy new week to you, CB xx <3

  9. I remember when my outlook on life hit rock bottom and I was even having trouble getting out of bed; I’d been reading articles on how the publishing world was changing and it all looked like bad news to me. After a semester of writer’s block, I decided instead of having my students write journals, I would write four novels, a chapter a week for each, and post them and they earned their journalling credits by critiquing them.

  10. That is all I hear from everyone. Drink lots of water and try to walk more. At least the water part I got down. It’s the walking part I need to work on more. It’s difficult, My husband has dementia and he is now a child, but he is sadly going to be put in the nursing home. I’ll probably be free to walk again.

  11. Yes! This is exactly what i have to workupon in order to stay fit mentally and physically. Thanks Christy for always writing such motivating blogs. Youre a Star ❤
