The New Year Brings New Possibilities

Happy New Year, change ahead

The New Year has such potential, doesn’t it? It is like when you start a new project or stage in your life, and you feel all of the opportunities that can appear ahead of you. I like to think that the New Year brings new possibilities.

Take Hold of the Excitement

For many people, the New Year comes with a sort of tingling sensation of what may happen during the year. Perhaps you will meet that special someone, take charge of your health, change jobs or go on the trip you’ve been dreaming of taking. Speaking of taking, take hold of that excitement you feel within you and direct it toward a purpose. MAKE this New Year a great one ahead.

The Role of Intention

Use the role of intention to create an amazing New Year! That means that while you could sit back and wait for the possibilities to find you, another option is to go out and find those possibilities yourself. You have the power to do so!

If you are positive in spirit and mind, for example, you will be more motivated to seek out opportunities that align with that uplifting energy. You might want to pursue a motivational career as a therapist or seek another rewarding opportunity.

Why Wait?

Here’s another thing I am thinking about today. Why wait for a certain moment to go pursue that dream of yours? Why not start today at reaching your goal? Of course, you can come up with a lot of excuses, but at the end of the day, life is short. It’s that simple. Or is it?

What Complicates It All

As the New Year starts, it is the perfect time to take out a new approach to life that focuses on achieving your life’s dreams. It seems easy? No, unfortunately, to achieve anything truly worthwhile, I think, it takes a lot of work. And the progression may not be as quick as you may have hoped. What is easy is giving up.

But here’s the key: with hard work, determination, and a positive spirit, you CAN achieve so much. From losing weight to getting a new job, you really can do it!

New Beginnings: What Do I Know?

By now you may be asking yourself, what does this chick know about new beginnings? Well, I know that I felt like I had a second shot at life after I was unsuccessful in my attempt to take my life. Once I obtained a healthy view of myself and the world, I decided that I was not going to live my life without at least trying to live my dream. That is when I took the leap into writing as a career. Easy? No.

There were many long days working for little pay that first year. Now I am in my third year as a full-time writer. Yes, there are still difficult days, but I learn something about the business with every day that passes. And I continue to see improvements in my work from one year to the next.

Will I keep working this way? Who knows, as ourselves are always expanding and redefining and… that’s beautiful! That unknown adventure ahead is part of what is so exciting about life. But, regardless of where each of us ends up, it’s important to stay determined. What keeps me determined? That I genuinely like what I do. If that changes, then so will my career choice.

And You

And you can pursue your dreams too? YES! Maybe for you, it’s not your career that is the “new possibility” of your New Year. Instead, it may be a healthy change to your body, a physical move of your home, or…

I will leave it to you to finish that sentence. And, ironically, finishing that sentence can help you to start a whole new track of possibilities in the New Year. I wish you much happiness in the New Year and hope that you will reach out to achieve your dreams, whatever they may be!

What feelings do you associate with the New Year?

Excellent change. It’s like rather than go on a diet, a person needs to go on a lifestyle change. Makes total sense. I wish you much success for 2015, you awesome woman you!

Linnea, your comment here humbles me. I am touched by your words and they do indeed encourage me to continue with this blog and my writing efforts in general. I know you are deep into your literary project and am happy to cheer you on! Sending hugs!

  8. Christy, you have so much wisdom! Thank you for sharing your insights and reminding us that, while achieving dreams is not easy, going after them is very worthwhile. I think that the start of each new year is a good time to take stock of where we are, what we’ve learned, and where we want to go from here. It’s the perfect time to make a few adjustments so that our actions and choices are better aligned with our goals. Even though life will get in the way, and we may get sidetracked again and again, we can steadily reshape our lives into what we want by taking steps in that direction. The change we want won’t happen overnight, but it will happen over time. Again, thanks for this beautiful reminder! Much love to you.

Indeed, those days when we get sidetracked can help provide us fuel for the following days to come back stronger than ever! Sending love to you xo

  9. Inspiring! I have complicated feelings about New Years, difficult to put into words. There is positive expectation with it more this year than with previous years though, as I made some positive decisions last year that I’m bringing with me into this year, to affect long-term goals.

Much change is often slow, and changes I am making in my life will be years in the making, but I’ll reap the benefits in the end if I stay the course as the rain falls on what I’ve sown, and the clouds on the way to my red-letter day have silver-linings starting this year!

    1. Christy Birmingham

      Hi Ry,
Bring on the silver linings! I have a feeling you have come a long way in a positive direction and I am looking forward to hearing about your continued positive journey. Of course we all have steps back and some days are more difficult than others, but I know you are a determined person and that can help you go so far. I wish you wonderful times in 2015, my friend!
